Aberdeen's Scottish Premiership season continued with a draw at Pittodrie against Motherwell on Saturday.

The losing run was at least ended, however Aberdeen, after going ahead through Rooney, had to settle for a one-one draw after McDonald came off the bench to earn Motherwell a point, which Well probably deserved at least with Ward making several saves to the Dons in the game and prevent a fifth straight defeat.

Motherwell Highlights - Click Here.

Motherwell started well and Johnson had gone close to giving them the lead when he curled an effort just wide with Well breaking through the Aberdeen defence at the end of good move with Lasley unable to hit the target as the Dons survived again.

Once again the visitors threatened with Logan pulling off a fine challenge to prevent Fletcher getting his effort away when Motherwell again putting together another move.

A rare first half chance almost saw Aberdeen take the lead as Hayes broke away, picking out McGinn but his finished went just wide.

But still the Dons did go into the break ahead when Rooney (43), with his seventh-goal of the season, opened the scoring just ahead of half time when he headed home a McGinn cross.

The second half was better for Aberdeen with McGinn and Rooney combining again, however this time the striker saw his header end on top of the net instead of in the back of it, which was something Reynolds managed to against his former side but the flag was raised for offside to this didn't count.

Pawlett also went close, his effort slipping just wide.

Motherwell drew level when McDonald (73), who had come off the bench, was able to head home when left unmarked to finish a Ainsworth freekick to make it one-all with a little over 15-minutes to play,

Had Motherwell 'keeper Ripley not saved to deny Logan Aberdeen would have restored the lead but it took Ward to tip a Robinson effort over to ensure that Motherwell didn't come from behind to lead with the Liverpool loanee 'keeper ensuring it was a point when he saved to keep out Ainsworth as well.

Celtic will be visited next weekend with major improvement needed or Aberdeen will lose more ground on the Champions as they look to stamp their authority, with them thrashing Dundee United five-nil on Sunday.
