Vital Report - Aberdeen 2-1 Celtic

2 - 1

Attendance: 20,385

Aberdeen's Scottish Premiership season continued with a great two-one win at Pittodrie against Celtic on Saturday.

The 100% start to the season Aberdeen have managed in the SPL so far this season was maintained with a two-one win as Rooney and Quinn's goals saw the Dons come from behind to overtake Champions Celtic at the top of the table.

Celtic almost went ahead when Griffiths' freekick, via a deflection off Graeme Shinnie, almost gave the visitors the lead, with a first clear cut chance coming when Constantine was caught out by a Mulgrew pass when he pulled back Griffiths as he prepared to shoot.

Griffiths (35) took this spot kick to gave Celtic the lead just before half time, however Aberdeen could, and should, have been level by the break but a cross from Hayes saw McLean, under no real pressure, fail to make any contact with an attempted header.

A penalty appeal against Mulgrew, when a Logan cross seemed to be blocked by the Celtic mans arm, but nothing was given this time but it wasn't long until Boyata brought down Shinnie and Aberdeen did have a penalty with Rooney (56) making no mistake as he also scored from the spot early in the second half to bring the Dons level.

When Hayes was sent off, following a sliding challenge with Lustig that didn't seem to be too malicious, a draw would have been taken.

A lead was taken when McGinn's freekick was finished off by Quinn (86) to win it, which came after Ward had saved a Mulgrew freekick with Considine clearing another Griffiths effort, as he looked to draw Celtic level in injury-time, off the line.
