Vital Report - Partick 0-2 Aberdeen
Aberdeen's Scottish Premiership season continued with a win at the Firhill Stadium against Partick on Saturday.
Five wins out of five were secured by Aberdeen, moving the Dons up to second behind Celtic with a game in hand, with Rooney and McLean securing a two-nil win.
Patrick made several changes to the side with new Aberdeen arrival McLaughlin unable to feature as his clearance hadn't arrived in time with little doing in the opening 45-minutes that ended goalless.
This almost changed after the break but Liverpool loanee 'keeper Ward made another fine save to deny Welsh the opener for Partick.
A lead came Aberdeen's way shortly after, and minutes into the second half, when McLean's effort, which was going wide, was brought under control by Rooney (49) who did the rest, however there was controversy about the goal with calls the Dons striker had handled the ball....
On the hour, well just before it, the lead was doubled with Goodwillie's shot saved by Partick 'keeper Cerny but McLean (58) was in the right place to score the rebound.
A good way for Aberdeen to go into the meeting with Celtic at Pittodrie in a couple of weeks, with the Dons at the moment the only side with a 100% record at the moment with Celtic dropping points in a draw so far and Hearts beaten for the first time on Saturday.
Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this latest win?
